I am so excited to be participating in so many linky parties between bloggers it has really allowed me to get the hang of blogging. I’ve been able to connect with so many new bloggers! Since I am so proud of my about page I am going to link it here that way you can get to know me on a more professional level and I’ll use this post to tell you about me Tasia! That also gives you an excuse to stay a while and check out my blog. ; ) Here we go!
Q: What are your favorite things?
Chocolate!!!! I keep a stash stocked full of Snickers, Kit Kats, Peanut M&Ms, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in my classroom at all times. My students love it when I need a chocolate break. We just stop what we are doing and allow it to melt in our mouths and not on our desks. LOL I love flip flops! They are the most comfortable shoes next to Uggs! Living in the midwest I only get to wear fill flops for a few months nevertheless they are the most comfortable shoes. I live for a great sleeping experience! I’m talking about a good middle of the afternoon on the couch during day time TV nap!
Q: IF YOU WEREN’T A TEACHER, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO BE?
I would most definitely be a veterinarian or pursuing a career as a gospel singer. I am a true animal lover and always have been. As a child I would take in every stray, or abandoned critter I could find. I’ve had dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, and the list goes on…. There just something serene about looking an animal in the eye to me. I bet you didn’t expect the gospel singer part. It’s true I love to sing and gospel is my music of choice. I come from a family of singers and we all love a good clap your hands, pat your feet praise and worship song. As a child I grew up singing in my church choir then in college I sang with The Voices of WMU Gospel Choir. Meet Sasha and Superman! One lives with me and the other lives in my classroom. Can you guess which one?
Q:THREE LITTLE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU?
Loving, Loyal, and Determined
Q: FINISH THE SENTENCE, “________, SAID NO TEACHER EVER!!”
“I love lesson planning”, said no teacher ever! At least not this one! This part of my pedagogy has changed as I have grown as an educator. I truly believe that teaching is more than just a profession, its a calling. It’s something that I was born to do. Either you have it or you don’t. It’s innate. I’m certainly not a perfect teacher and I absolutely make mistakes all the time, but teaching is my element. It’s the one thing I can talk about for hours, or just plain think about for hours. It’s not that lesson planning is not beneficial because it absolutely is, but I don’t think it’s the best use of time for me. My planning is more like a web or outline based on the our teaching and learning standards and of course the needs of my students. Not to mention all those teachable moments that naturally happen everyday. After staying in the same grade level you eventually become a pro. My philosophy is it takes 2 years to be proficient in a grade level and 3-5 years to be an expert. Your planning should be more of a reflective activity that includes tweaking things to met the needs of your current students. Face it, great minds teach alike and we aren’t exactly reinventing the wheel here, we are just making the wheel roll better on our terrain.
Q: IT’S YOUR BIRTHDAY AND YOU CAN INVITE ANYONE {DEAD OR ALIVE} TO THE PARTY. WHO ARE YOU INVITING?
This is a tough one… Micheal Jackson, Andy Cohen and the women of Real House Wives of Everywhere! LOL First thing that popped in my head and don’t forget Wendy Williams to get the shade rolling! LOL
Q: IF SOMEONE WROTE A BOOK ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD BE THE TITLE?
Memoirs of a Teaching Diva
Q:YOU GET TO PICK ONE SUPERPOWER. WHAT IS IT?
I would have to choose the ability to teleport myself anywhere in an instant. I suffer from extreme tardiness and am always rushing so this would indeed come in handy. ( Of course thats a real medical condition! (wink))
Q: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE OR SAYING?
Life Quotes -“It’s better to have loved and lost than to not have loved at all.” & “Anything worth having is worth working for.”
Classroom Quotes – “We learn from our mistakes.” “You get what you get and you don’t have a fit”.
Q: IF YOU HAD TO SING ONE SONG ON AMERICAN IDOL, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
This is very hard to answer because I love to sing. American idol would be like karaoke for me, so choosing one song would be very hard for me. Once you give me the mic its hard to get it back. After I’ve gotten over my nerves.
Q: ARE YOU A MORNING PERSON OR A NIGHT OWL?
I have always been a night owl. In fact I’m writing this post at 2:38am. My natural clock would prefer to stay up all night and sleep during the day.
Q: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE RESOURCE THAT YOU’VE CREATED IN YOUR TPT SHOP?
As you know I am new to the selling world. So I can’t answer this question because I am in the process of taking several items I’ve made for my classroom and upgrading them to be purchase ready. Make sure you are following my blog so you can check out my work my first product will be a great back to school bundle that your students will love doing!
Q: SHARE SOMETHING WE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU!
I am an only child. Sharing was a new experience for me that I had to develop in college and sometimes is still a struggle for me! LOL I am also very shy. Most people are surprised at that because I do have a very outgoing personality. For the most part I hide it well, but I’m definitely a shy girl. I’m one of those people that have introvert and extrovert personality traits. This was fun Thanks for reading!
So nice to meet you! I am in love with peanut m&ms… and I love your pets! I am new to Teachers Pay Teachers as well. I just started in December, but really started to focus more on creating products this summer. Looking forward to getting to know you better. Your blog looks fantastic!
